Artist Statement - Carl Downey

I grew up in the Los Angeles area and there studied oil painting under Carlos Norte and Chet Collom. Always moving north, I've settled in Healdsburg and find endless subject matter and inspiration for my landscapes in the wine country.

My work is largely traditional in style with occassional splashes of surrealism.

I feel that nature is God's handi-work and try to offer a unique interpretation with each painting.
